Director, Women's Philanthropy

POSITION SUMMARY

 The Director of Women’s Philanthropy works with senior staff and volunteer leadership to develop and implement strategies to meet short and long-term goals of Women’s Philanthropy (WP). The primary objectives are to develop and implement a plan to grow engagement, involvement, leadership and philanthropy among women donors to Federation. The Director is expected to develop long-term relationships with donors, build an understanding of donors’ interests, passions and values, and to encourage new participation in the mission of WP.
RESPONSIBILITIES
WOMEN’S PHILANTHROPY BOARD (WPB) (40%)
  • Effectively support the WPB leadership and committees, including providing thought leadership, strategy, facilitation and guidance.
  • Collaborate with WPB leadership to recruit new leadership and ambassadors, and engage leaders in donor development, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Work in partnership with the Women's Philanthropy Chair/Campaign Chair(s)/Leadership Development Chair to schedule and plan meetings, and manage WPB governance and leadership development.
  • Ensure distribution of meeting notes and follow-through on action items.
  • Manage all leadership development activities, including Yesod, a formal leadership development program.

FUNDRAISING (40%)

  • Work with the CDO to develop and implement annual campaign plans including specific, measurable, timely goals and related strategies.
  • Cultivate and steward donor prospects to grow the donor base. Manage a significant portfolio of donors, and secure gifts through face-to-face solicitations, phone calls, and by working with WPB Ambassadors.
  • Facilitate annual volunteer (ambassador) assignments.
  • Track, manage and report on monthly progress of Women’s Philanthropy.
  • Effectively utilize Federation’s donor management system to manage and track and report on all aspects of donor relationships.
  • Work collaboratively within the Development Department and with other Federation departments.

EVENTS/PROGRAMS/ADMINISTRATION (20%)

  • Identify, recruit, educate and motivate volunteers to actively participate in campaign and WP activities.
  • Manage all programmatic elements (speakers, food, and other logistics) for small coffee gatherings and multiple annual events for WP.
  • Engage in community activities and serve as a leadership role model for women in the community.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and maintain a high level of accuracy with attention to detail.
  • Strong skills in donor development, cultivation and direct solicitation.
  • Ability to build strong relationships that result in financial and leadership commitments.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to evaluate campaign results and identify trends including ability to manage statistical data in order to assess fundraising effectiveness and devise goals with the CDO.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a leader with strong communications skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of volunteer/professional dynamics.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekend meetings/events.
  • 5-7 years direct fundraising experience with a proven track record of securing gifts up to $10,000.
  • Strategic planning experience.
  • Database and administrative experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work well within a team and be a collaborator.
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, customs and traditions, including knowledge of Israel.

EDUCATION 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
