The Arc of San Diego is one of the region’s largest human service providers for people with disabilities.  Since 1951, The Arc of San Diego has been providing services to people with disabilities and now serves more than 2,500 children and adults throughout San Diego County. 

The Arc of San Diego is seeking a full-time Development Manager to assist with directing a comprehensive development program for The Arc of San Diego based on a formalized development plan, marketing strategy and budget that assures adequate funding for programs, services and special projects by securing financial resources from foundations, corporations and individuals.

Under the direction of the Vice President of Marketing & Development, the Development Manager will be responsible for the implementation of a strategic Development plan that builds on the organization’s current base of support and expands the constituencies of individuals currently giving to the organization. This position raises annual revenue to meet the goals of the organization through the resources of area businesses, foundations and individuals and special events. Eligible candidates need qualifications enabling them to fulfill the following key responsibilities:

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Lead the implementation of fundraising goals and long & short-term strategies.

• Conduct prospect research and develop individual donor cultivation plans.

•Meet with prospective donors to promote interest in providing support for The Arc of San Diego, conduct donor cultivation activities throughout the year, and ensure all donors are properly recognized through appropriate acknowledgement.

•Assist with all charitable giving including annual membership program, direct mail appeals, major gifts and internet based fundraising.
•Solicit corporate partnerships and sponsorships.

•Develop creative strategies for broadening the organization’s base of support from individuals, nurturing existing relationships as well as identifying new constituencies and expanding funding base. 


•5+ years work related experience in development desired.  

• Bachelor’s Degree in related area of study. 

• Successful record of achievement in solicitations of financial support.

•Knowledge of professional standards and legal parameters regarding fundraising activities.

•Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Expertise with Raiser’s Edge software is highly desirable.
